The Rock Springs Massacre

September 2, 1885 – In Rock Springs, Wyoming, 150 white miners, who are struggling to unionize so they could strike for better wages and work conditions, attack their Chinese fellow workers killing 28, wounding 15 and forcing several hundred more out of town.

The cover shown here was mailed from Rock Springs on November 17, 1925 and has a “cachet” featuring the Park Hotel in Rock Springs.  The cover is franked with an airmail stamp, Scott Catalog No. C5.
